Are clothing donations being accepted to Haiti?

Posted on January 22nd, 2010 by admin

It is breaking my heart watching the situation in Haiti, and I am desperate to help. Unfortunately, my family is going through an incredibly difficult financial time and donating any amount of money is near impossible. I do, however, have piles upon piles of clothes that we no longer wear (have outgrown, mostly) and I was wondering if there is any credible organization currently accepting donations of clothes. I know money is preferable, but this is all we can really do right now. Thanks so much and bless you all.

I would ask your church or The Salvation Army.Perhaps these two groups can tell you where to give.

Is there a website for donating clothes to people who have lost weight?

Posted on January 10th, 2010 by admin

Hi! I’m currently in the process of losing a lot of weight. I am looking for somewhere where I can donate my old clothes that are now too large to people who are also losing weight. I’m also looking for somewhere where I could get donations of clothes for myself since buying new clothes with every 10 lbs lost gets really, really expensive. Any suggestions?

You can Google it. Your best option will probably be finding a family service center in your area.

Are there any thrift stores that buy clothes? Or is it just donations?

I have SO many clothes that are in almost perfect condition that I don’t wear. Northern NJ/NYC area.

Try a search for consignment shops. They usually take the clothes and sell it for you. When the item sells they take a cut of the selling price and pass the rest on to you.

You can also trying selling them on eBay yourself or take it to an outlet that will sell it on eBay for you.

do the thrift stores buy your clothes or they only accept donations?

You can get money from consignment shops. I’m not sure exactly how it works, though. You might have to wait until they sell the items to get paid.

Where can I donate extra clothes hangers?

Posted on October 7th, 2009 by admin

Does anyone know of a place that accepts clothes hangers as donations? I hate to throw them out, and I have over 100 or so.

Thanks!

We have a thrift shop in our neighborhood that loves to get hangers. Alot of stuff is hanging in the store, the money goes to "The Ark" maybe you have something like this near you.

Can anyone give away clothes/shoes etc.? Donations?

HI, My name is Melee, im 23 years old, and my family and i are going through a ruff time. My husband has a minimum pay and he can only provide for our home and for what our kids need. He feels bad that he is not able to provide me with stuff that i need, for example will be clothing. For me to help him not to spend money on new clothes. i wouldn’t mind on using used clothes. That way i will have enough clothes and he wont have to feel sad or have to work more for me to have this. I will appreciate so much if someone would provide this for me. I feel better using used clothes than have my husband work more hours to buy me new, when we can use that money to buy our kids what they need. Thank you so much for taking time on reading this and i hope to hear from anybody.

One of the best sources for things like this is right on Yahoo. Go to the main Yahoo page and click groups. Do a search for Freecycle groups in your area. Signing up is free. You can post wants. Some groups require you offer something to someone else before you can ask for things. You might offer clothes your kids have outgrown that are still in wearable shape, recipes coupons, etc. Talk with local churches and charities that have thrift shops, many will give things or cut prices to almost nothing.

Please be very careful about putting your name and address on net. There are some bad and hurtful people.
